More #TPBAFK_xtras will be released in May!

Yesterday the German/French Channel ARTE broadcasted TPB AFK in German and French. (Yes, they dubbed it!!)  Using LinkLib we hooked ARTE up with a second screen experience that sent German, French and English links about the Pirate Bay story to the audience’s phones while the film was being aired. It’ a real pirate-pilot case!

The idea was to present arguments from both the free culture movement and the media industry. Even though I disagree with some of the links ARTE’s edtorial team chose, in the spirit of public service, I think this is a great way to dissect opposing arguments.

Nästa vecka drar jag igång en svensk bioturné där jag visar filmen och pratar om min galna femårsprocess med TPB AFK. Jag kommer bla att berätta om hur filmen kom till, varför jag tycker att fildelning är gött och varför domen mot grundarna är orättfärdig. Jag kommer också visa nytt material ur dokumentären som inte finns på nätet Dessutom provar vi LinkLib, systemet jag utvecklat för att skicka extramaterial direkt till publikens telefoner.

Eftersom det i princip är omöjligt för svenska filmproducenter att tjäna några pengar på biovisningar har jag bestämt mig för att distribuera min film själv. En sak piraterna lärde mig var att internet måste kopplas ihop med “den där riktiga världen” för att ge mening. Därför drar jag nu land och rike runt med en fet AFK-upplevelse som inte går att ladda ner.

Du kan hjälpa mig att bevisa att det finns nya sätt för oberoende filmare att överleva genom att komma på mina TPB AFK visningar.

If you press it and scan the QR code (we like QR Droid for Android, I-Nigma for Iphone), a feed of time synched links will display on your smartphone or tablet. Now you can fullscreen the film and choose whether you want to watch those links during or after the film.

I have chosen these links to give your more background on the Pirate Bay story, the people in the film and how it was made. The cool thing about the system is that we can update the links so the film experience can change and become an organic thing. A lot of the crazy stuff that happened to the Pirate Bay in the month since the film was released is now automagically included in the story.
